It wasn't working because I forgot to re-include the part which dynamically chooses the colour (D+G) which I removed to test my refactoring.

I believe you can shave 3 bytes by using from turtle import* and then H=Screen() A=Turtle()

forward can become fd, left to lt, down to pd. You can probably remove the definition of G since it has no parameters as well, including in main program. Since the background is white, you don't need the else statement.
