@Oliver: Screen shot of the output from Python on Cygwin. i.sstatic.net/CHKXV.png There is the portable solution of placing the , at the end of the first line, but I don't know if the rule permit me to change my code, since you edited your post after I post my solution.

When you do print 'abc', the comma makes it not have a line break.
