The first time you use an index of a for loop, you can omit the initialisation to 0 as the variables are declared globally. Also, I think you use the function E only once so it should be possible to just put it inline.
Sep 5, 2014 at 19:51 comment added Josh At the global scale, you can drop the int as it's assumed. Several of your printfs only output a single character. You might be able to replace them with equivalent putchar to save a couple of characters. For example, changing printf("\n") to putchar(10) :)
