Jun 10, 2021 at 12:11 comment added Oskar Skog Can a batch script run indefinitely if it calls itself (%0 instead of goto somewhere)?
Apr 24, 2020 at 12:35 comment added ScriptKidd golfed 1 byte off: ping/n 1 1.1 -w 250>nul
Dec 7, 2016 at 10:36 comment added Ismael Miguel Using ping . -n 1 -w>nul seems to give a delay of around 200-300ms. But that's visually, and I don't know how to time it on the CMD. But you were right, my version is slower than 250ms. It seems to be around 3-4s
Dec 6, 2016 at 2:09 comment added user6616962 @IsmaelMiguel it seems to be a lot slower than 250ms. Here's a webm of ping 1.1, ping a and the accepted answer. webmshare.com/omWXQ
Dec 5, 2016 at 10:49 comment added Ismael Miguel It seems that ping a -n 1 -w 250>nul also works. This tries to ping the host //a, which doesnt exist. I tried it with a 2500ms delay instead, and the delay happened. I've tested on Windows 7. With this, you can save 2 bytes.

Thanks to YourDeathIsComing for saving another byte!
Dec 5, 2016 at 5:31 comment added YourDeathIsComing I meant the space before it, not after it.
Dec 5, 2016 at 2:05 comment added user6616962 @YourDeathIsComing cmd seems to complain about it. imgur.com/a/wEkFw
Dec 4, 2016 at 15:30 comment added YourDeathIsComing You should also be able to remove the space in front of do.
Dec 1, 2016 at 1:36 comment added user6616962 @YourDeathIsComing d'oh! I tried it before, but had thought that only 250 would be directed to null. Thanks!

Thanks to phyrfox for saving 4 bytes!
Nov 29, 2016 at 16:49 comment added phyrfox You should be able to use the IP address "1.1" (-4 bytes), because most platforms will auto-expand that to 1.0.0.1 for you.
Nov 29, 2016 at 8:55 comment added Neil Yes, that looks right.

fix code byte calculation
Nov 29, 2016 at 1:54 comment added user6616962 Thanks @Neil! The array notation really helped. Also, I was unsure with how I used %0 here. Is it correct?

Thanks to Neil for saving 27 bytes!
Nov 28, 2016 at 17:32 comment added Neil You don't need the array, in (/ - \ ^|) works. Also, %0 is a shorter way to loop than goto.
