Probability theory is concerned with predicting the probabilities of outcomes of random events. Challenges with this tag will usually do exactly that - compute probabilities of certain random events exactly (as opposed to approximating them by sampling the phase space). Other challenges might require insights into probability theory to generate random outputs of a specific distribution.
