BASIC or Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code, is the general name given to a family of general purpose programming languages that are designed to be readable and easy to learn.

The original version of BASIC was created by John G. Kemeny and Thomas E. Kurtz at Dartmouth College in 1964.

Some more modern dialects that belong to this family of languages and are used here at PPCG are, in no particular order, listed below.
