On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

Hello, I'm DJMcMayhem! But you can call me DJ.

Fun fact about me: Apparently, I've visited the site for 762 consecutive days.

I would be honored to be a moderator for this site. I deeply care about this community, and I would like to do whatever I can to help this site succeed. I have a strong draw towards moderation tasks. At the time of writing this:

  • I am extremely active in the PPCG review queues, with 2735 reviews in total.

  • I am an active core member of Charcoal, a community led moderation team that assist in quickly removing spam and offensive content from across the SE network. Through the assistance of Charcoal and autoflagging, I've given feedback to the smoke detector bot 1730 times, and I have cast 4287 flags with a 99.65% helpful rate.

  • I have a very high candidate score.

But beyond just raw numbers I have always shown maturity, a heart for this site, and active participation. I have been active on meta, helping the community shape it's guidelines. I have always tried my best to be very welcoming to new users. I spend a lot of time in chat, which makes me very easy to get a hold of. My answers

Hello, I am PhiNotPi!

I would be humbled to serve on your moderation team.

  • I have been a member of the PPCG community for over 6 years (more than all other candidates combined). I witnessed the development of this community from its early days in public beta to its current state as a graduated site. This perspective will be very useful as I help guide the future growth of this community as moderator.
  • Served 6 years as a non-SE site admin, giving me experience in handling user interactions as a mod. I know first-hand that the mod hammer is a finesse weapon (high dexterity needed). I would like to congratulate PPCG on having a very civil community. (Other real-life accomplishments include Eagle Scout and strong academic record.)
  • I follow a quality-over-quantity approach to my site contributions. I have been involved in many of this site's largest community projects (official and informal: fortnightly challenges, podcast/blog, tetris, etc.). I enjoy helping other people make cool challenges. User-user cooperation and assistance is the key to maintaining the quality of content on this website.

Questionnaire.

Thank you for your consideration.
